This webinar provides an opportunity for afterschool practitioners to think of ways to prioritize the social and emotional learning (SEL) and development needs of the young people they serve. Jessy Newman, senior researcher with the American Institutes for Research (AIR), shares information about the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) SEL Roadmap process and connected tools. She discusses important “how-to” tips to help apply the roadmap to program planning and highlight the elements of the toolkit most relevant for afterschool programs and their unique role in schools and communities. Finally, Newman shares reflections on how afterschool leaders can position themselves as integral parts of school re-opening planning and implementation.
